....................................................................................................................................................

Located in Al Mafraq district, outside the city of Abu Dhabi, Al Mafraq
Hospital is a 750 Bed state of the art facility serving as the main hospital
     for Abu Dhabi area.
The new hospital will open in 2014 and will replace the current Mafraq
     Hospital campus.

The designed landscape creates a unique outdoor environment for the
the hospital, which is modeled on high end service heath care.
Al Mafraq Hospital, UAE, was a winner for the Hospital Build Middle
East Awards for 2010. It won the Best Sustainable Hospital Project.
The landscape design played a crucial role in the award, a Visually Pleasing,
Cost Effective , Functional , Maintainable and Environmentally Sound landscape design
were the most important considerations that led to the award.

The softscape planting consisted mainly of native plants used in a xeriscape
setting in order to reduce water use for irrigation .
A local water treatment plant is installed to recycle potable water for irrigation use.

Bioswales were incorporated in the design ;they consisted of : swaled drainage
organic channels with gently sloped sides and planted they were specifically
designed to attenuate and treat storm water runoffas to provide
     groundwater recharge.
