HEC HMS Hydrological analysis (Catalonia, Spain)

     The Basin in Catalonia has the dykes of the hydraulic structure to protect the city
     downstream; built several years ago and it seems that they are not suitable to deal with
     the 500 years flood, therefore, to avoid flood problems, we had to propose some
     actuations on the basin in order to reduce peak flow at the city, in such a way
     the new peak flow is 50% of the initial value.

     The Basin have been divided into 3 subbassin A, B, C, the Muskingum K and the time
     of concentration were calculated for the entire basin and the precipitation is
    calculated for each sub basin with analternate method for a 500 years return period;
     along with the Elevation area curve of the reservoir the data were introduced
     into HEC-HMS to simulate the precipitation-runoff.

     Several trials were conducted with variation of subbassin imperviousness and
    spillway elevation in order to decrease the runoff to 50 %.
     The results are found in the attached report.
